Laminate Care & Maintenance

Maintaining Your Tap&Go Floors

  • Daily Cleaning with a duster, sweeper or electric broom.

    • Do not use mops like string mops or sponge mops that use a lot of water

    • We do not recommend using a steam mop for the risk of heat and water damage over time.

  • Immediately wipe up any liquids or food spillage with a dry cloth or paper towel.

  • Remove any sticky residue (like jelly) with a slightly dampened cloth.

  • For general cleaning, add ¼ cup of mild or PH-Neutral soap to a gallon of water.

  • Use exterior and interior mats or rugs in high traffic areas such as hallways and entry ways.

    • If you have pets, keep their nails trimmed to help avoid scratches on your floor.

    • Place a mat or small area rug underneath heavy furniture.

  • We recommend putting felt pads underneath furniture and chair legs.

  • Do not allow “spiked heel” type of shoes to walk on the hardwood, Laminate, Bamboo, or engineered floors, as they may leave indents, scratches, or other blemishes, especially if the heel tip is damaged, or does not have a rubber pad.

  • Do not use any of the following as they may scratch or react with the flooring finish.

    • Ammonia              c.  Bleach or any other abrasive cleaners

    • Pine Soap              d. Oil-based soaps and cleaners

  • Do not leave your flooring exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time

  • If moving furniture, pick up the furniture and carry it to the desired area.

  • IF YOU HAVE LAMINATE, ENGINEERED, OR BAMBOO FLOORING DO NOT POLISH OR WAX. Doing so will damage your floor.

  • Make sure to leave at least quarter inch expansion gap against the wall when installing the vinyl. The bigger the are the bigger the gap needs to be.

  • Do not expose your floors to extreme temperatures. Even if the home is empty do not turn off air conditioning or heating.

Cleaning Your Tap&Go Flooring

  • Be sure to clean high traffic areas daily, doing a basic sweep, and deep cleaning 1-2 times a week.

  • For low traffic areas, 1-2 times a week should be sufficient.

  • When using a mop or cloth, make sure it is merely damp and not soaking wet.

  • Be sure to wipe up any excess liquids immediately

What You'll need

1)- Microfiber Mop.
Using a microfiber mop for your laminate floors is the best way to go. Other types of mops or brooms might be too harsh for your floor and can damage your floors over time. Here at the office we use a Swiffer Mop, and it works great.
We don’t recommend using any steam mops or cleaners with harsh abrasives.

2)- Cleaning Solutions.

There are tons of products out there that you can use to clean your floors. We highly recommend NOT using any cleaners with ammonia, bleach, wax, polish, oil-base, or pine soap cleaners they can be harmful for your floor. Make sure to read the labels of any cleaner to make sure it’s safe to use for your laminate floors.

3)- Get Ready to Clean.

  • Add all ingredients to spray bottle and shake to combine.

  • Sweep/vacuum the floor before mopping. This will help get rid of any dust, rocks, or anything that could potentially scratch the floors. Make sure NOT to use hard brushes and use the right equipment and settings if you are using a vacuum.

  • Spray cleaner on the floor. Spray it at an angle so that more is sprayed over an area. Wipe up with a microfiber mop.
