Rounded Stairs

Last week we installed another set of rounded stairs, transforming it from carpet to laminate! There were 4 steps rounded on one side. Carpet is flexible, so carpet installers can cover round edges fairly easy. Wood will not bend like carpet, so we have to transform it from rounded edges to straight edges.

Here's what it looked like after we ripped out the carpet:

Carpet removal on stairs is more tedious than on flat parts of the home. Carpet installers use many staples to secure the vertical and rounded areas. Prior to putting in new flooring, we must make sure that all the staples from the carpet have been removed.

Here's what is looked like afterwards:

The customer chose our 12.3mm laminate MHT-21 Smoky Hickory Magic, one of our all-time bestsellers.

Here are the stairs from a different angle:

Since stairs get a lot of traffic, it is a good idea to use wood floors on the stairs rather than carpet, as carpet can get worn out easily. With our matching stairboards, laminate stairs have rounded nosing that is flush.

Our installers did an amazing job with this transformation, can't wait to meet another one of these!
